June 21 2014 is the day the new BMW M4 goes on sale, yet BMW has released full details for the production version of its new hero ahead of its Detroit show debut in January. In case you missed it, the M4 is the new name for the two-door M3, and the flagship M version is more powerful, faster and tougher than ever. The outgoing M3 Coupe has proved the benchmark for the Mercedes C63 AMG and the Audi RS5 so the M4 will has its work cut out for it, having to live up to not only its rivals, but its predecessor.
For the masochistic car enthusiast--and many of us here at AutoWeek count ourselves among that breed--nothing is sure to tantalize and frustrate quite as nicely as a Lotus. Not just any Lotus, mind you, but a peaky, force-fed, emissions-saddled 1986 Turbo Esprit. We brought you news back in February that high-end Car Auctioneers R.M. Auctions were offering for sale an extremely rare 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa at the Ferrari Leggenda e Passione sale in Maranello today. Well, the sale went as planned, because the Ferrari 250 TR sold for a world auction record €9,020,000, beating the previous record by €1,980,000.
